LEEs Helping FamiLEEs affected by Winter Storm Fern

For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana through grants management. Grants are critical—but they take months to materialize. Right now, families can’t wait.

Winter Storm Fern has intensified an already severe hunger and health crisis across Northeast Louisiana. Even before the storm, their region faced one of the highest food insecurity rates in the nation—69,080 residents, including 23,310 children, struggled to get enough to eat.

The freezing rain storm compounded these challenges overnight. More than 60,000 homes lost power, leaving families with spoiled food, no way to cook meals, limited access to clean water, and dangerous exposure to extreme cold.

The Food Bank is responding immediately—purchasing truckloads of food and bottled water, burning through fuel to reach affected communities, and replacing food lost by partner pantries during extended power outages. Emergency food assistance right now is essential to protect health, prevent hunger, and help families stabilize as they recover.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

Every $1 donated helps provide 3 meals.

Your gift today will put food on tables, keep families safe, and support our neighbors when they need it most.

Will you help my Food Bank family—and the families we serve across Northeast Louisiana—get through this crisis?
